Dinner and a Show

A few weeks ago, John surprised me with City and Colour tickets as an early Christmas present.  They are one of my favorite bands and I’ve always wanted to see them in concert.  Fortunately, they were coming to Philadelphia for a show and John grabbed the tickets as soon as he found out.

We asked my mom to take Grayson for the night and we hit the road late afternoon yesterday to head into the city.

We got there in time for an early dinner at one of my favorite places in Philly, Farmacia

I’ve been here a handful of times, once for a blogger dinner at a conference a few years back and a few times after that.  It’s truly a wonderful spot if you are ever in the city of Philly.

The best part is that you can bring your own bottle of wine and there is no corking fee!  We decided to pull out a bottle of our 2013 Blenhiem Painted White for the occasion and it was perfect.

For dinner, we split the cauliflower and romanesco as a small plate appetizer.

This was out of this world!  The way they can transform a vegetable at this place always blows my mind!

For dinner, I went with the Mega Dose of Vegetables and Grains.  I’ve actually had this before a few years ago and loved it so much that I knew I had to get it again.

When it came out, John couldn’t stop laughing at the size of my entree.  It was a bit ridiculous how large the plate was, but I didn’t care at all.  This was all SOOOO good!

I ate about half of everything and saved the rest to share with Grayson for lunch the next day.

For dessert, we went with the Vegan Lemon Ginger Cake with Avocado Ice Cream.

We finished dinner just in time to make it to the theater.

City and Colour was incredible!  I loved the vibe of it all being pretty mellow but intense at times.

I’m so glad I got to see them in concert and equally glad that I got to spend an incredible date night with my love.

We also heard that Grayson did so well with his first overnight trip to Nan Nan and Pop Pop’s house, which was a huge relief!

Overall, it was a wonderful way to spend a Tuesday.
